TOHO has announced a new live-action film based on indie developer KOTAKE CREATE’s surprise hit thriller game The Exit 8.

While details on the new live-action film for The Exit 8 are scant, it will premiere sometime next year – in 2025.

Here’s a comment from the game’s creator, plus a teaser trailer:

Exit 8 will be made into a live-action movie! I was surprised and grateful because I had no idea that the game would be released at the end of November 2023 and that about a year later a movie adaptation would be announced. When I heard about the movie, I wondered how they would make a movie out of a game without a story, but I think it turned out to be an interesting movie without destroying the world view and atmosphere of Exit 8! I was also able to visit the filming location, and it was really amazing to see that underground passageway and the uncle exist right in front of me! I hope you are looking forward to seeing the film! I am also looking forward to the release of the film!

The mystery/thriller game has been available for Windows PC (via Steam), Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5, and has been downloaded over 1.4 million times. Check out our review here!
